SUNDAY CALL

A funny sketch about how Egyptians use courtesy "boatmen" invitations. The reason this is called "boatmen invitation" is because when someone invites you but doesn't mean it, it's like someone on a boat in the middle of the water inviting someone on the shore to join them for lunch —obviously, the one on the shore won't be able to do that.

After working out, they say “Oh dear”.

Lyrics:

Who just barely turned thirty?

Who found a white hair two days ago?

Who, poor thing, can’t focus anymore?

Who’s about to tear up right now

When we call him Uncle just because he was born in the eighties

Who puts on Voltaren before going to sleep?

Who now forgets people’s names mid-conversation?

Who loves the couch more

Than going out and staying up late?

Who, instead of arguing, now just says Okay?

Who started listening to mom and dad again?

Who now coordinates outfits at home in pajamas?

Who doesn’t understand Ziad Zaza (a young rapper)

And cooks on their day off

And when they finish a workout says Ah, my back?

That’s Uncle, Uncle, Uncle right there

He was just the captain — who made him grow up?

And Auntie, Auntie, Auntie too

She was just a baby not long ago

Who enlarged the font on their phone?

For them, a 12 a.m. movie is madness?

Who’s the pretty one that gets shocked

When someone her height calls her Auntie?

Who pressed the wrong button and set a caller tune?

There she is!

Who grew up with us and we’re celebrating them?

Who it seems we’re about to celebrate their marriage?

Who’s not little anymore

And barely has time to plan

And get them to the home they choose

That’s Uncle, Uncle, Uncle right there

He was just the captain — who made him grow up?

Who grew up and is going to buy an apartment?
